Dear Friends,
I am writing to you because I would like to form a coalition on campus against Hydrofracking, and I think you may be interested. There’s a sense of urgency in this, as they could be fracking in our watershed as early as this coming spring! I hope we can spread the word, add to the chorus of voices demanding a ban of fracking in NY state, and encourage honest investment in clean energy alternatives starting right here in our community.
Some friends and I have been brainstorming and have come up with a few ideas, and I would love to meet with interested people to bring in more perspectives and figure out what actions would be best. I hope it won’t be too late to get super fired up starting next semester, with the comment period for New York — when citizens can submit comments to legislators on how they feel about it — ending on January 11th (to make a comment, go to www.frackaction.com).
So please email me back if you are interested, and I will make a collection of the emails of folks who want to be involved! Just to get started on the arduous process of choosing a time when we can all meet — how’s next Thursday the 15th, in the afternoon?
Please pass the word on to other folks who may be interested!
Best regards,
Mara
